The Government of the Canary Islands, following the data provided by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), has activated a pre-alert for rain and storms that will affect all the islands of the archipelago, being more intense in those of greater relief.

This measure will remain active as long as the situation of atmospheric instability persists, and its duration will depend on how the meteorological phenomenon evolves in the coming hours.
Intermittent rainfall is expected in the south of Gran Canaria, which could accumulate up to 15 mm in one hour, mainly in the afternoons and evenings.
• Wind: Winds will be from the east, with intensities of 30 to 40 km/h in coastal areas, while in midlands and peaks gusts of more than 30 km/h could be recorded at high points such as Pico de las Nieves.
• Temperatures: Minimum temperatures will range between 16 °C and 18 °C, while maximum temperatures will reach 22 °C in low-lying areas.
Origin and evolution of the episode
Atmospheric instability is due to the influence of an Isolated High Level Depression (DANA) located in the north of Africa, which generates cold air at altitude, favouring the formation of clouds and rain in the Canary Islands. This phenomenon will persist until Saturday night, with a tendency to subside from Sunday, November 17.
