The mayor, Oscar Hernandez, pressed the switch on Saturday that activated the lighting
of the entire municipality.
More than 300 decorative elements have adorned the main streets and streets since this Saturday
squares of Agüimes, after the Christmas lighting ceremony held in the town of Cruce
of Arinaga. The mayor, Oscar Hernandez, was in charge of pressing the switch of the
lights in the Primero de Mayo square, instantly illuminating the garlands, arches and
ornaments installed there and in the rest of the urban centres of the municipality.

The lighting was preceded by the Festival of Light, a lively and spectacular parade
light show starring skilled acrobats and charismatic elves, which toured the
Ansite Avenue from the Beñesmén school to the square. To the rhythm of the bands of
Island music and Cacuna Guiniguada and the Samba Isleña batucada, joined the parade
jellyfish, unicorns, planets and large stars that amazed the children,
young and old gathered on the main commercial artery of the urban centre.

Afterwards, the Magical Christmas musical show was held in the square, presented
by Kiko Barroso and starring the group La Trova, which delighted the public
performing versions of Christmas carols from all times and for all tastes.

The placement of decorative elements serves to create a Christmas atmosphere in the
main commercial routes of Arinaga, Agüimes and the Cruce de Arinaga. They also decorate the
surroundings of the squares of Montaña de Los Vélez, Las Rosas, the El Oasis and El
Eden de Vargas, San Francisco Mountain, The Schooner, The Corralillos, The Espinales, Polygon
Residential of Arinaga, La Banda, Temisas and Guayadeque. In addition to the more than 300
ornamental elements installed, this year about 2.000 meters of have been placed
garlands, 18 Christmas trees and 7 3D structures in various corners of the municipality.

Christmas lights help stimulate economic activity in the areas
open commercial areas of Agüimes, in addition to livening up the parties and events scheduled
over the next few weeks in the different neighborhoods. All light sources are from
LED technology, with maximum energy efficiency, which will minimize both consumption
electrical as light pollution.
