The children's plenary session is full of proposals in favour of the care and protection of animals
The Department of Social Services of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council held its Children's Plenary Session today, Wednesday 20 November, a participatory activity in which 25 minors took on the role of councillors, simulating a plenary session moderated by the mayor of the municipality, Marco Aurelio Pérez. During the session, boys and girls in the 5th and 6th grades of Primary School from the Santa Águeda, Aldea Blanca and Tunte centres presented their proposals after having worked for months on the creation of associations in their communities, putting into practice the right to associate, the central theme of this year's International Children's Day.
A total of 66 students went to the Town Hall in Tunte to applaud the proposals presented to the plenary session by their classmates. Most of the proposals were related to animal welfare, including activities, actions and solutions to the problem of animal abuse. During the session, the participants were accompanied by some councillors from the governing group and, at the end, they received a certificate of accreditation for the work carried out.
Finally, they enjoyed a healthy breakfast and a fair of manipulative games.
