Hospitality in Maspalomas: Dismarex erases all traces of the Martínez family and changes its name

Gara Hernandez Tuesday, November 26, 2024

The company that distributes products for the hospitality, catering and retail sector, Dismarex, confirmed this Monday that it has changed its name just three years after launching and after the integration of the businesses in what was previously the logistics subsidiary of Grupo Martínez Abolafio de José Martínez, who in 2021 said "the launch of Dismarex is further proof of the company's commitment to evolve towards innovation, quality and sustainability". From now on, it will be called Voldistribución Canarias.

Dismarex aspired to be a leading distributor of beverages, food and hygiene products with more than 30 years of experience in the Canary Islands and was the result of the merger of two distribution companies: Dialte and CH Morales. The multi-product distributor was created to place brands such as Estrella Galicia, Marqués de Murrieta, Cervezas Alhambra, Cabreiroá, Heinz, Colhogar, Bodegas Reverón, Bodega Stratvs, Cervezas 1906 or Grupo La Rioja Alta, SA, among others, on the islands. A few years later it became the property of Mahou.

The business holding Grupo Martínez Abolafio said in 2021 that it was made up of more than 24 companies in Spain and that it began its journey in the Canary Islands with the opening of the Balcón del Mar tourist complex in the 70s, expanding its activity in the transport, retail and real estate sectors. Dismarex has been the official distributor of Mahou San Miguel in the Archipelago since January of this year. A milestone for the Group's company, which stands out for being agile and offering a personalized service to its customers. From now on, Voldistribución will continue with the Mahou, San Miguel, Reina and Internacionales beers, in addition to the Solán de Cabras and Natura water brands in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Palma. It will also distribute Cervezas Alhambra on the islands of Tenerife and La Palma, as stated on its website.

Its foray into distribution in the Canary Islands began with the acquisition in 2019 of the pharmaceutical distribution company Canarifarm, a company with more than 30 years of experience in the sector leading the distribution of dermocosmetic products, oral health, orthopedics, baby products, etc., with more than 13.000 references from laboratories and brands such as the L'Oreal Group, P&G, Merck, Loring, among others. In 2020, the Martínez Group decided to take on the challenge of turning the Canary Islands into the epicentre of intercontinental distribution. To this end, in addition to its experience in distribution and export to Central Africa, it founded Logimarex International, a project specialising in the marketing of Spanish brands in Africa, already having more than 200 suppliers, which also seeks to become the ally of Canary Island brands that want to export to the African continent through its commercial platform.
