MASPALOMAS24H Tuesday, November 26, 2024

The event, which celebrates its 2024th edition in 40, will feature a wide catalogue of products handmade by almost 130 artisans with a representation of 55 trades.

The traditional Canary Islands Craft Fair is back for the 40th time. From 4 to 8 December, locals and tourists will be able to discover the handmade products of 128 artisans from all over the Canary Islands, in an event that combines a commitment to Canarian tradition and a programme of promotion that encourages visits to this space. In addition, as a novelty, the Canary Islands Craft Fair is leaving Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to be held at the Maspalomas Lighthouse, an incomparable enclave on the island of Gran Canaria that will serve as an incentive to attract more visitors.

The Councillor for Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Crafts of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso; and the Deputy Councillor for Industry, Trade and Consumption of the Government of the Canary Islands, Felipe Afonso El Jaber; presented this event to the media this morning, which is promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Employed Workers, and organised for the first time by Infecar, Feria de Gran Canaria.

“This regional fair is held biennially in Gran Canaria and in 2024 we have the opportunity to host its 40th edition,” said Minerva Alonso, who also highlighted Infecar's experience and Fedac's wisdom in organizing this type of fair. “Throughout this year, Infecar has been in charge of organizing the island's craft fairs, with more than satisfactory results, which is added to the work carried out by Fedac to promote traditional culture and the survival of our identity.”

Regarding the new location of the Regional Craft Fair, Minerva Alonso has thanked the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana for its willingness to host this type of fair. “We are going to the south of Gran Canaria for reasons of space that will allow us to have the local public but also the tourists that are present on the island in the high season,” she said.
