The informative day for the socialization of Vocational Training students with the tourism business community had the collaboration of the municipal area of Education, Culture, Youth and Local Development of the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana
The mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez, chaired the opening ceremony of the 2nd Business-Student Meeting organised by the Entrepreneurship Classroom in Vocational Training at the IES Faro de Maspalomas, dedicated this year to the growing importance that technological professionalisation is acquiring in the new niches of entrepreneurship and employability.
The informative and educational day aimed at socializing the students of the educational center with the representatives and CEOs of a dozen companies in the municipality was held at the Maspalomas Cultural Center, organized by the Entrepreneurship Classroom in Vocational Training of the IES Faro de Maspalomas.
The meeting, which included three presentations and a round table, was also attended by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, as head of the municipal area of Culture, Education, Youth and Local Development.
The first of the presentations, on Dual Training as a driver of labour integration, was given by Rosario Martín González, head of the Vocational Training Service of the Department of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands. The second was given by the general manager of Sanagua Group, for the management of spas in the hotel sector, Valérie Le Mao, who spoke about the vision and mission of the company and the new codes of business excellence, specifically “the human being, technology and sustainability”. The third presentation, on social entrepreneurship and the “era of ODSeable entrepreneurship”, was given by the coordinator of the School of Young Entrepreneurs of the Canary Islands and creator and director of “Eres influencer de tu casa” and “Respuesta violeta”, Amalia Fajardo.
The round table was a chance for students to express their concerns and business representatives to express their thoughts on “the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence on employment”. The speakers were Jesús Manuel Guerra Santana, from Suministros Agrícolas El Tablero; Alba Laurador and Suresh Mukhi, representing the Lopesan Group; Kamal Mahtani, CEO of the Laboratory Ejove firm; Octavio Fernández Lima and Moisés Martín Sánchez, from the Toke´s hair salon, as well as the people in charge of the two business presentations.
The event was attended by students and teachers from the four professional families that make up the educational proposal for Vocational Training at the Faro Institute, specifically Personal Image, Agriculture, Hospitality and Tourism, and Administration and Finance.
