They are provided for in the Partial Plan of Sector 13 that was initially approved this Thursday by the Plenary Session of the Corporation of San Bartolomé de Tirajana
The plenary session of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council unanimously and initially approved this Thursday the Partial Plan for sector 13 of El Tablero, which with a total area of 105.000 m2 of residential land will enable the construction of some 150 two-storey homes on individual plots of 300 m².
The Partial Plan allocates 9.882 m² for open public spaces to be ceded to the City Council; 6.262 m² for sports, educational, and social areas; and 901 m² for commercial activities. The total urbanization cost amounts to €5.537.454,66 , which will be financed entirely by the developers.
The initiation of this file began at the beginning of July 2021, as a private initiative requested by the owners of the land. After this initial approval, the Partial Plan will be subject to public exhibition for 45 days. The first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, reminded the plenary of the extensive administrative and technical process of this matter, which was subject to various reviews, consultations with public bodies and adjustments to environmental regulations until it was favorably informed by the municipal technical area on October 21.
Celebration Grants
Also initially and unanimously approved at this plenary session was an amendment to Annex VI of the Municipal Ordinance Regulating Subsidies, which includes the new specific bases that will regulate the granting of subsidies to the festival committees for the organization and celebration of the municipality's neighborhood festivals.
The Councillor for Celebrations and Events, Yilenia Vega, pointed out that the main objectives of this modification are, among others, to increase the number of beneficiaries of these subsidies and establish their obligations; reduce the number of unnecessary documents required and the complexity of the administrative procedures to request them; clarify and rationalise the data that will be used as assessment criteria and provide them with an objective scoring system, and expand and make more flexible the expenses that may be subsidised. “We are looking for greater citizen participation, so that it is directly the neighbourhood associations or festival committees that organise and hold the festivals in their own neighbourhoods, and also greater transparency when it comes to making the subsidies. The Ordinance is from 2006 and needed modifications in its annex 6 to make it much more effective and operational,” she said.
Carnival of Tourist Interest
Another matter approved unanimously by the Corporation at this plenary session was the request that the City Council will send to the Department of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands to declare the Maspalomas International Carnival a Festival of Tourist Interest in the Canary Islands.
The Councillor for Tourism, Yilenia Vega, stressed that this initiative seeks to recognise the cultural and touristic importance of this event, which has been held annually since 1974 and has been under the name 'International' for more than 20 years. "It is a long process of several years, but the appointment will strengthen the promotion and touristic projection of the municipality and its brand Maspalomas Costa Canaria. Recognition as a Festival of Tourist Interest in the Canary Islands would be the first step to later reach the categories of National and finally International," she said.
The proposal submitted to the plenary by the second deputy mayor and councillor for Culture and Education, Elena Álamo Vega, to appoint the writer and journalist from Gran Canaria Juan Jesús (JJ) Armas Marcelo, born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on 22 July 1946, for the Canary Islands Literature Prize that the Government of the Canary Islands will award in its 2025 edition, was also unanimously approved.
An extrajudicial recognition of credit for the amount of 216.226 euros was also approved "to pay bills from the departments of the Elderly, New Technologies, Social Services, Tourism, Civil Protection, Health, Culture and Police," reported the Councillor for Finance, Alexis Moreno Suárez.
In the section on motions, the plenary also unanimously approved the institutional declaration promoted by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) in support of the citizens and municipalities of the Valencian Community, Castilla La Mancha and Andalusia that were affected by the Dana.
