San Bartolomé de Tirajana pays tribute to 33 local police officers for their exemplary career

 

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council offered this Saturday a special recognition to 33 members of the Local Police force of this municipality for their professional career and their many years of service, five of whom are already leaving the police institution due to retirement. 

 

The event was held at the Maspalomas Cultural Centre and was chaired and closed by Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez, who thanked the entire police force for “their legacy, dedication and values ​​that make them a fundamental pillar for the municipality”, and particularly thanked those honoured for “being an essential part of our community, where they have left an indelible mark due to their perseverance, sacrifice and professionalism”.

 

The mayor praised the work of the retired officers. “They will always be part of this great family. Their legacy transcends beyond the service,” he told them. He also thanked the close collaboration of the people outside the police force who were also honored at this event “because with their support and commitment they strengthen the common goal of making San Bartolomé de Tirajana a safe, fair and prosperous municipality.”

 

The Chief Commissioner of the Local Police, Isidro Armas Díaz, insisted on the recognition and gratitude for “the work of sacrifice and vocational dedication” of the agents, highlighting that the police “is not simply an institution in charge of ensuring public order, but a part of the social fabric that acts as a guardian of the rights and freedoms of the residents of the municipality and of the citizens who visit it,” he said.

 

Armas Díaz insisted on the importance of the preventive work of the Local Police in the areas of road safety and road transport, and also in the protection of victims of gender violence. In this regard, he offered statistical data: 771 reports so far this year for traffic accidents, 129 for other crimes with an impact on the community, and 11 arrests in response to crime. Regarding the Viogen police unit, he underlined “its tireless work in the protection of 50 victims.” He also highlighted the more than 2.000 summonses and home notifications carried out and the management of more than 500 files for abandoned vehicles, of which 240 have already been removed from public roads. In the area of ​​traffic and municipal ordinances, more than 10.000 reports have been made, “which reflects the magnitude of the interventions and the police commitment to the continuous improvement of safety,” he said. 

 

 

José Carlos Álamo expressed his gratitude to the officers who were distinguished for their more than 25, 30 or 35 years of service, stating that “these numbers, in addition to time, express experience, lived stories, personal sacrifices and vocational love for the profession. You are an example for everyone. Thank you for showing us that the commitment to the safety of our streets is a constant and valuable work,” he said.

 

The Councillor for Security and Emergencies conveyed the municipality's collective gratitude to the officers who retired this year with more than 35 years of service, specifically Ángel Méndez, Lorenzo Morales, Elías Pérez, Francisco Viera and Felipe Vega. "Your work does not end here, because the values ​​and dedication that have guided you will continue to be part of the community. Even without a uniform, you will continue to be police officers for everything you have given and everything you represent," he said.

 

 

Years of permanence

 

For their more than 25 years of service, the following were distinguished: Francisco Alamo, Teodomiro Alvarez, Benito Benitez, Juan Castellano, Jesus Hernandez, Ramon Herrera, Victor Hidalgo, Pedro Lopez, Guacimara Ojeda, Lino Perez, Juan Ramirez, Roberto Ramos, Francisco Rodriguez, Jose Segovia, Juan Trujillo and Raul Vega. For their more than 35 years and in addition to the retired agents, the following were also distinguished: Subinspectors Ignacio Caro, Carlos Monzon and David Ojeda, Officer Alejandro Grases and Agents Cristobal Diaz, Martin Sanchez, Rafael Vega, Carmelo Zerpa and Carmelo Martel.

 

 

 

 

 

Furthermore, at this event organised by the Department of Security and Emergencies and the Local Police Headquarters within the framework of the programme for the Day of the Immaculate Conception, the patron saint of the police, which will be celebrated next Sunday 8 December, the dog Peka, belonging to the canine unit of the municipal police force, and several people outside the police institution were also recognised, specifically Amado Ramos, Antonio López, José Rodríguez; the 1st sergeant of the Maspalomas Civil Guard detachment, José Marrero, Juan Perera, Pino Ortega, Raúl Miranda and the workers of the local CECOM and the staff and senior staff of the force.
