The city council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, in its commitment to the care and defense of animals, has put out to tender the collection, transfer, custody and adoption service of animals with 24-hour availability
The Comprehensive Service of the Temporary Animal Stay Center began its activity last week to reopen the shelter for abandoned animals. The provision of this service, which includes the control of cat colonies, has been awarded to the company Canary Dog Island for a total of 72.760 euros.
The City Council has entrusted it with the collection or capture of abandoned animals, the transportation and custody in the dog daycare, in addition to their health treatments and, above all, the search for families who choose to adopt the sheltered animals. Sanitary measures focus on possible cures, provision of food and preventive care for diseases. The council, always in its commitment to animal welfare, especially abandoned and helpless animals, works through this service to find permanent adoption families.
The municipal shelter, with a capacity of 25 places, has boxes adapted to the size of the animals collected, a surface with non-slip flooring and automatic waterers with continuous water in all the rooms that house dogs. The facilities also have boxes for cats.
The Councilor for Health, Clara Inés Martel, recalls that, “animal abandonments increase during these Christmas periods, so I call on the residents of the municipality to make use of the adoption service that has been launched, "for a few days now, from the council."
