Summer 2025: Demand drives 30% increase in bookings to Maspalomas

Does public money need to be spent on promotion in Germany? The bankruptcy of FTI is causing surprises. TUI is responding to record demand for summer travel in 2025 with 400.000 additional holiday offers covering popular destinations such as southern Gran Canaria, Turkey, Greece and Egypt. Early bookings and the insolvency of FTI are boosting booking figures, with Turkey standing out with an increase of more than 30%. TUI is also investing in its hotel brands, expanding its portfolio to 600 locations and benefiting from the growing demand, which also has a positive effect on the share price.

According to its own data, the group is experiencing an “above-average wave of early bookings”. Many holidaymakers are already booking their summer holidays, which has led to a real boom in bookings.

This increase coincides with the bankruptcy of the third-largest tour operator FTI, which cancelled all bookings in June this year. For TUI and other providers such as Schauinsland-Reisen, this means a significant increase in the number of bookings. In Turkey, for example, Schauinsland is recording more than twice as many advance bookings for the upcoming season compared to the previous year.

Turkey remains the top holiday destination for German tourists. Booking figures are currently 30 percent higher than last year. In the summer of 2024, more than one million TUI guests travelled to Turkey and the group expects similar figures for the coming season. Greece is also showing strong growth, particularly in island travel.

According to TUI, an interesting development is that more and more travellers are booking their next trip immediately after their return. This “relax, come back and book again” mentality is further driving the trend towards early bookings. The German Travel Association (DRV) confirms this: In recent years, holidaymakers have been booking their summer holidays much earlier.
