From Puerto de Mogán, an Atlantic crossing to raise awareness of the work of the Hogares Lázaro Foundation

This Sunday, December 8, from the iconic Puerto de Mogán in Gran Canaria, four friends, known as the Rowing Stones, will begin an unprecedented adventure: rowing across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean. For more than 5,000 kilometers, facing waves of up to 12 meters and extreme conditions, they will seek to achieve an objective that transcends the sporting challenge: to give visibility to the situation of homeless people and the work of the Hogares Lázaro Foundation.

 

 

 

What is the Lázaro Homes Foundation?

 

Since 2011, the Lázaro Homes Foundation has been working to combat social exclusion through an innovative model: shared flats between homeless people and young professionals. This safe and supportive environment fosters social integration, allowing its beneficiaries to regain their dignity and build a stable life project. In more than a decade, the foundation has prevented more than 200,000 nights on the street and has managed to make 98% of its participants feel accepted and accompanied. Crossing the Atlantic symbolizes the collective effort and solidarity that the Lázaro Foundation promotes in its homes, demonstrating that with support and teamwork, the greatest challenges can be overcome. A solidarity event from Gran Canaria

 

The farewell event, which will take place in Puerto de Mogán this Sunday, December 8, will bring together people at risk of social exclusion from Spain and France, as well as volunteers from the Hogares Lázaro Foundation. This meeting reinforces the message of inclusion and hope that drives both the rowers and the foundation.
