Evensport (Arista, DG Eventos and Top Time) charge against Maspalomas for not paying them on demand

Gara Hernandez Wednesday, December 11, 2024

First of all, two facts should be noted: 47 days is the average payment time for services in San Bartolomé de Tirajana and 76 days by Las Palmas City Council, according to data from the Ministry of Finance as of December 11, 2024. Second fact: the Canary Islands Association of Sports Event Organizers (Evensport) was founded in 2019 by: Pablo González Cardona, Iván Carlos Benítez Fuentes, Fernando González Díaz, Alfredo López Acosta, Daniel González Poch, Javier Pérez Cabrera and Tanausú Zumaquero Nuez. The companies that are part of this organization according to their website are: Arista, DG Eventos, Top Time, K3 Servicios Integrales and FTV Alisios.

This Tuesday, the employers' association of sporting events has attacked the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana because since 2019 there are debts that have not been paid "and it extends until 2024, putting the celebration of these events at risk, with serious repercussions for the thousands of athletes who meet annually" which attracts "tourists and boosts the local economy, which depends largely on tourism". The officials have reacted badly to the statement, pointing out that "there are 87 more municipalities on the islands, we do not know why they come here knowing that we pay so poorly" generating a damage to the image of public employees.

The employers' association says that "the possibility of losing these events, due to non-payment of the debt, would represent a serious loss for the island "and many families depend on the activity generated by the thousands of visitors and participants who attend the sporting events." Evensport has made an "urgent call to the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Hall" to "pay off the outstanding debt as soon as possible, guaranteeing the continuity of these major events and thus avoiding a crisis that affects the thousands of athletes who travel to Gran Canaria to practice sports throughout the year."
