The Civil Guard arrests two men for a violent robbery in a shopping centre in Mogán

On November 26, 2024, the Civil Guard of Puerto Rico arrested two people, aged 27 and 37, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of robbery with violence against a tourist. The incident occurred on November 13 in a shopping centre in Puerto Rico, where the suspects took advantage of the night and the victim's drunken state to attack him and steal his belongings, causing various injuries. According to the complainant's account, while he was enjoying a night of leisure at the shopping centre, he was intercepted by several individuals who cornered and beat him, causing him to fall to the ground; taking advantage of this act to steal a watch valued at 10.000 euros, a pair of sunglasses, a wallet with 900 euros and 400 pounds sterling, and his mobile phone.

After the attack on the victim, the attackers fled the scene, leaving the victim alone and wandering disoriented through the shopping center until an employee of a store near the scene of the incident was able to recover the victim's cell phone and wallet, but without the money. In light of what happened, and after the victim filed a complaint at official offices, Agents from the Investigation Area of ​​the Civil Guard of Puerto Rico began the relevant investigation procedures. Therefore, they carried out a thorough review of the video surveillance cameras and carried out exhaustive police investigations. The statements of the victim were essential to determine the modus operandi and the authorship of the crime.

Thanks to the rapid and effective clarification efforts carried out during the investigation, the agents managed to identify the alleged perpetrators, two individuals of foreign nationality who were finally located and arrested in the town of Puerto Rico on November 26, 2024.

Once the proceedings were completed, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Court of Instruction on Duty.
