A cayuco with 54 people of sub-Saharan origin was intercepted this Thursday in front of the emblematic Maspalomas Lighthouse, in Gran Canaria. Maritime Rescue deployed the Salvamar Macondo vessel to carry out the rescue and transfer the occupants to the dock in Arguineguín.
Once in the port, the rescued people were assisted by a medical team made up of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the Red Cross and Primary Care of the Canary Islands Health Service. According to the preliminary report of the emergency teams, all the people were in good general condition, without the need for hospital transfers.
The Maritime Rescue Service, through the Salvamar Macondo, participated in this operation, together with the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), the Red Cross and Primary Care of the Canary Islands Health Service, which coordinated medical and humanitarian care for the migrants after their arrival on land.
