The Ciao Ciao ice cream shop, strategically located in Playa del Inglés, unexpectedly closed its doors on December 12 due to an eviction, leaving employees and customers perplexed.
The closure took workers by surprise, and when they arrived at the premises they found the doors closed and a notice from the company announcing the definitive cessation of work. Some employees received a warning message at 4 a.m., but most found out when they arrived at the establishment.
Located at a key point at the entrance to Playa del Inglés, the ice cream parlour was not only a business, but also a historical landmark in the south of Gran Canaria. Neighbours and tourists have lamented the loss of this emblematic place, which for more than three decades was part of the landscape and memory of the community.
The closure of Ciao Ciao puts an end to an era marked by its iconic presence in the area, leaving its employees in a situation of job uncertainty and Playa del Inglés without one of its most representative establishments.
With more than 30 years of activity, Ciao Ciao was much more than an ice cream shop: it was a meeting point and a mandatory stop for those visiting the beach. Its abrupt closure not only leaves a void in the urban landscape, but also in the collective memory of residents and visitors.
The news has caused concern among workers and sadness in the community, which is saying goodbye to an emblematic place whose history will remain marked in the memory of the south of Gran Canaria.
