Next Sunday, December 22nd, at Plaza de San Fernando in Maspalomas, from 09:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m.
The Department of Social Services of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council, in collaboration with the Kilometers for Smiles Association, has organised the charity event “Visit from Santa Claus and Delivery of Toys”, which will take place next Sunday, December 22, in the Plaza de San Fernando in Maspalomas, from 09:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m.
This event is specially designed to bring joy and support to families affected by cancer and autism, offering a day full of fun and recreational activities, which will include workshops, games and shows. One of the most anticipated moments will be the visit of Santa Claus, who will deliver gifts to the little ones, accompanied by his elves and children's characters.
Kilometers for Smiles is a non-profit organization founded by Christian Ramadan Diaz, who experienced the oncological process of his young son. According to its founder: “Our mission is to bring hope and relief to families facing similar situations, organizing solidarity events that combine sport, entertainment and emotional support.”
Dimas Sarmiento, Councillor for Social Services at the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Hall, emphasises that “the event seeks to create a space of respite and well-being for these families, allowing them to enjoy Christmas Day in conditions adapted to the needs of the participating children”. To this end, activities such as balloon twisting, face painting, bouncy castles, Christmas theatre and craft workshops have been prepared. In addition, attendees will be able to enjoy a charity lunch and snacks with delicacies such as waffles and churros with chocolate.
In order to ensure the peace of mind and comfort of minors and their families, this event will not be open to the general public, and will be an activity aimed exclusively at affected families who have been previously invited.
This event not only aims to bring smiles, but also to raise awareness in the community about the importance of supporting families who are going through difficult times. The event will be an example of how, by working together, we can make a difference and contribute to the well-being of those who need it most.
