The president of the Cabildo, Antonio Morales, visited this Tuesday the new car park in the residential area of Bellavista, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, a project that, with an investment of 588.000 euros, responds to the need to provide this area with functional infrastructures that improve accessibility to the commercial area, and improve the quality of life of its residents as well as reinforcing the attractiveness of the town.

The car park, which only needs to be connected to the electricity supply to become operational, is located in a strategic area next to the commercial centre - 30 metres from Avenida de Gáldar - and residential area, occupies an area of 4.983 square metres and has 85 spaces, five for people with reduced mobility, spaces for motorcycles and three charging points for electric vehicles, one of them ultra-fast. In addition, it includes a landscape integration with garden areas, irrigation systems, public lighting and pedestrian and road connection with Calle Partera Leonorita through a bridge. Among the possible future extensions, the installation of a bicycle lane and the development of spaces for public bicycles are contemplated, reaffirming the commitment to sustainable mobility and care for the urban environment.

During the visit, the president pointed out that “this type of project not only improves the quality of life of citizens, but also promotes sustainability and energises the urban areas of Gran Canaria. This car park is an example of how the Cabildo continues to invest in key infrastructures for the economic and social development of the island.” In this regard, the president recalled that in the last two years alone, 8 million euros have been invested in open commercial areas and 2,5 million have been allocated to the areas of this municipality: San Fernando and El Tablero. These investments have allowed for actions such as the modernisation of the Open Commercial Zone, the renovation of urban furniture, the adaptation of streets and pavements, and improvements to public facilities.

Morales was accompanied during the visit by the Minister for Economic Development, Minerva Alonso - the area responsible for managing this subsidy - and by the mayor of the municipality, Marco Aurelio Pérez, who highlighted the importance of actions such as this because "they not only improve access to commercial areas and therefore help the economy, but also have an impact on improving neighbourhood coexistence."

In addition to this work, the Cabildo has carried out the drafting of projects and the supply of street furniture in the Open Commercial Zone of San Fernando, with an investment of 60.760,05 euros. This work focuses on Avenida de Gáldar, where bollards, flowerpots and an irrigation system have been installed for the landscaping of flowerpots and the access roundabout. These improvements seek to increase pedestrian safety and reduce vehicle traffic, creating more sustainable, quiet and green spaces.
