The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued the weather forecast for the south of Gran Canaria for the next few days
For several days now, the south of Gran Canaria has been experiencing a haze, caused by the arrival of suspended dust from the Sahara. This phenomenon has significantly reduced visibility and affected air quality. According to AEMET, air quality indices may reach unhealthy levels, especially in low-lying and coastal areas.
The population is advised to take precautions, such as avoiding outdoor activities, closing windows and wearing masks if necessary, especially for people with respiratory or cardiovascular problems.
Temperatures are expected to drop slightly over the weekend. Maximum temperatures will range between 23 and 26 degrees in coastal areas, while in the midlands and at the tops the values will be cooler, with minimum temperatures around 14 degrees.
Cloud cover will gradually increase from Friday onwards, with the possibility of light and isolated showers on the northern and eastern slopes of the island. In the south, these showers could be less frequent, but sporadic rainfall cannot be ruled out during Saturday afternoon.
The wind will be from the east to the southeast, blowing moderately in most areas of the south. However, in summit areas and exposed areas, gusts could reach 30 km/h.
