There will be Christmas decorations with a 7-meter-high inflatable Christmas tree and a 5-meter-high Santa Claus.
The 'Freedom New Year Festival Maspalomas' event will celebrate the arrival of 2025 with a varied programme of free and paid events that will offer, from 27 to 31 December, concerts with outstanding artists, fun parties in hotels and the first New Year's Eve Gala at the Yumbo, in Playa del Inglés.
The presentation of the programme was attended by the director of 'Freedom New Year Festival Maspalomas', Fernando Ilarduya; Cristina Ramos, singer from Gran Canaria, and the director of the Hotel Axel Beach Maspalomas, Carlos Aguiar. The mayor of the SBT City Council, Marco Aurelio Pérez, was unable to attend due to agenda issues.
Fernando Ilarduya explained that this event, which is taking place in its eighth edition, is being held for the first time at New Year's Eve. “The Maspalomas Costa Canaria destination is 100% full and we expect the attendance to be very large. We are a unique destination for LGBT people and we are going to enjoy many national and Canarian artists. For this occasion, the Yumbo will be decorated with Christmas lights, a Santa Claus and a giant Christmas tree. There will be an automatic counter for attendees at the entrances, to control the capacity, for security reasons. Our goal is for Maspalomas to be a world leader in security for the LGBT community. The program will culminate with the New Year's Eve Chimes and the party until 100 in the morning.
Cristina Ramos stressed that it will be “a real pleasure to close the year at this event, with a concert in which I will take a musical tour of the best songs by Whitney Houston, one of my favorite artists, and songs in keeping with the Christmas holidays.”
Finally, Carlos Aguiar said that this event is taking place on a key date, when the hotels are fully booked, and is “another incentive to promote the Maspalomas brand and at the same time, to be able to boost the hotel's activities with an alternative offer for our guests.”
The stage, located in the Plaza del Yumbo, will host every night, from Friday, December 27, the free galas that will begin at 20:00 p.m., with performances by drag queens, dancers, music enlivened by DJs and performances by Soraya, Cristina Ramos (winner of Got Talent Spain and La Voz de México), Nebulossa (winners of Benidorm Fest 2024) and Mat Terry (winner of Factor X in the United Kingdom).
To warm up the atmosphere, on Friday 27 December, the programme of events will begin with a participatory Crossfit master class, from 17:00 to 19:00 pm, on the Yumbo stage. Afterwards, the Hotel Axel Beach Maspalomas will host a Welcome Party, from 19:00 to 21:00 pm, which will be free and open to the public.
To bid farewell to the year, the venue will be decorated and illuminated with Christmas lights, featuring a 7-metre-high inflatable Christmas tree and a 5-metre-high inflatable Santa Claus. There will be an automatic counter at the entrances to control capacity.
The programme has the collaboration of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, and the sponsorship of the Canary Islands, Absolut, Sonocom and Coca Cola, among others. All information about the programme and ticket sales can be found at:www.freedomfestival.es
The bars will not offer any drinks in glass containers, only reusable plastic cups will be used and all products will be recycled.
For the first time, residents and tourists will be able to celebrate the end of the year on a large open-air stage at the Yumbo, 11 metres long, which will be dressed up to welcome the arrival of 2025, with the 12 lucky grapes and enjoying the most representative pop music from the 80s, to the most danceable songs of today, with dancers and drag queens.
The programme of activities will include daytime parties at the pools of the AxelBeach Maspalomas and Seven Hotel & Wellness hotels, and every night at the Yumbo, with galas set by DJs from Spain, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela, with the best Dáncela, House and Tribal House music sessions, as well as performances by top artists.
The party will continue at the 'Kiki Nightclub' on the third floor of the Yumbo, where four nights of fun will be held, filled with dance music, from one in the morning until dawn.
For five days, the public will be able to enjoy the best atmosphere to welcome the New Year, with the most danceable music, and the warmest climate in Europe in December, which reaches an average temperature of 25 degrees. The 'Freedom New Year Festival Maspalomas' will be “The warmest winter festival in Europe”.
New Year's Eve at the Yumbo
The New Year's Eve Gala in the Plaza del Yumbo will be an unforgettable party that will start at 21:00 p.m. The Canarian artists, Rubén Dizá and Jia Miles, will present the event in 3 languages and, as is traditional, before midnight, they will invite the public to countdown with virtual chimes and celebrate the arrival of 12, in a festive and free atmosphere, until 2025 in the morning.
Global buses are the best option to arrive on Wednesday, December 31, to Yumbo and return on the lines that will offer service on January 1. The schedules can be consulted at: www.guaguasglobal.com
The 'Freedom New Year Festival Maspalomas' event will have a VIP area, with exclusive access, located in front of the main stage. The 'VIP pass' also includes welcome gifts, drinks, free access to the 3 pool parties in the morning, New Year's Eve catering and the 12 'lucky' grapes for New Year's Eve and access to the 4 official parties at Kiki Nightclub.
