The Government Council approved last Thursday, December 19, the extension of credit for this action in Gran Canaria

The Department of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands will allocate two million euros for the refurbishment and expansion of Parque Sur, located in the south of Gran Canaria, which will be transferred to the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana for the execution of the project.

The Minister of Tourism and Employment, Jéssica de León, highlighted the importance of this intervention as part of the efforts of the regional government to guarantee the tourism competitiveness of the Canary Islands. “The subsidy will allow the modernisation of one of the green lungs of the municipality, expanding the garden area and improving different spaces to make them more efficient and accessible,” she stressed.

The Government Council approved last Thursday, December 19, the extension of credit to undertake these actions, framed in the budgetary program called 'Tourist Infrastructures and Integrated Management of Tourist Centers', which aims to improve the tourist areas of the Canary Islands. According to De León, "this work is key to modernizing one of the most emblematic areas of the south of Gran Canaria, and expanding its tourist offer, beyond the star segment of sun and beach."

The works will include the extension of the park towards the hillside in order to increase the green areas, creating new recreational and leisure spaces for the enjoyment of visitors.
