The International Ecoislands Forum returns to Infecar on January 30 and 31

 

To create a space for discussion, proposals and the promotion of measures aimed at promoting the transition towards a greener, more profitable, more self-sufficient and environmentally more sustainable socio-economic model with a marked island focus. This is the objective of the second edition of the International Ecoislands Forum, a biennial meeting that will once again be held at Infecar on 30 and 31 January. 

 

 

Promoted and funded by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and organised by Infecar, this forum will focus the conversation on four main areas: circular and blue economy; energy, water and mobility; adaptation to climate change and biodiversity, with the participation of speakers from international, national and local spheres, who will present good practices and discuss the needs and solutions of the main themes of this event. 

 

This second edition of the International Ecoislands Forum will bring together renowned specialists from the international scene in its plenary sessions. Gunter Pauli, creator of the concept of the 'blue economy', will be in charge of opening this forum on the morning of Thursday 30th, with a presentation focused on the opportunities that this economy offers, not only from an environmental perspective but also in terms of job creation. 

 

Anjila Hjalsted, a specialist in absolute sustainability, will delve into this methodology that aims to quantify environmental sustainability and determine whether something is, in absolute terms, sustainable or not. Finally, Liz Bonnin, a wildlife biologist and presenter of Natural History and the Environment, will discuss the changes our planet needs and the importance of committing to a healthy planet. 

 

They will also be joined by the Maritime Sisters, Sylvia and Marjolein Boer, two energetic thinkers with maritime DNA. They will give a workshop on Thursday 30th at 17.30 pm, in which, in an interactive and dynamic way, they will gather contributions on topics and problems relevant to the maritime sector, vital for our society and our future. 

 

The panel of experts is completed by specialists from Denmark, Estonia, Italy, France, Cyprus, Holland and the United Kingdom, in addition to top-level speakers from the Canary Islands who will also contribute a local perspective to this space for debate.

 

With all this, the Ecoislas International Forum is designed for a visitor profile interested in knowing the challenge of green employment as a site to reduce unemployment levels; access specific information related to the four major main themes; establish collaborations between public, private and scientific institutions to promote innovative measures to face the challenge of climate change; and know the policies aimed at mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

 

Tickets to participate in this second edition are now available on the website www.foro-ecoislas.es, either for one day or for both. Thus, for professionals, tickets for a single day cost eight euros, while for both days the price is 12 euros. For students and/or people with disabilities, retirees or pensioners with accreditation, the cost is three euros for one session and five euros for the entire forum. Finally, the workshops aimed at more in-depth practical training cost four euros.

 

In addition to the informative part of the event, tickets to this II International Ecoislands Forum also give access to the exhibition area, networking space and business meetings (B2B).
