The favorites do not fail in the morning matches
UD Las Palmas, who were playing against a Juventus side that already had a place secured, were satisfied with a draw, but they were not satisfied. Alex Muñoz's men won with a goal from Enzo. The home side moved into second place in their group. Inter Milan and Valencia, who had not drawn more than 1-1 in their match, were eliminated from the quarter-finals.
With Orlando City already out of the running and Real Madrid already assured of a place in the quarter-finals, Betis and Borussia Dortmund were still fighting for a place in the quarter-finals. The Germans beat Orlando 1-0, a result that was not enough to go through. Real Madrid and Betis faced each other to decide who would be the group leader. A great goal from Betis captain Alex López gave the Verdiblancos a 0-1 victory.
The clash between Paris Saint Germain and Sevilla ended 1-0 in favour of the Andalusians with a goal from Dani, leaving the French side out of the title race and Sevilla still waiting for the match between Barcelona and Athletic. The Catalans, who were far superior, started ahead in the first half with two goals from their striker David Moreno. A third goal from Fode in the second half sealed the match, placing Barça top of the group and Sevilla in second place.
With a 1-1 draw between CA Peñarol and Girona, the white-and-reds said goodbye to the competition while the Uruguayans were left waiting for the other match in the group, the one between Atlético de Madrid and Villarreal, two outstanding teams in this tournament that did not disappoint in their clash. With a 3-XNUMX result, the yellow submarine went to the quarterfinals as group leaders followed by the team from Madrid.

Spectacular clashes for a place in the final
The quarter-finals started with a full house. The duel between Juventus and Real Madrid. The Merengue team, who have won this tournament on nine occasions, became the first semi-finalist with two goals in their favour, one from Duarte and another an own goal from the Italians. There was a surprise in the clash between Villarreal and Sevilla FC. The Andalusians eliminated one of the tournament favourites with a 0-1 scoreline and a goal from José David Rosa.
Barcelona FC and Atlético de Madrid relived the same quarter-final match from last season. The Blaugranas took the lead with a goal from David Moreno, when the Colchoneros equalised in stoppage time. The match was once again decided on penalties, although this time the win went to the Catalans. Real Betis and UD Las Palmas played the last quarter-final match of the day. The Andalusians and the Canaries starred in a clash with alternating dominance without goals that would be decided on penalties in favour of the Verdiblancos.
In the consolation quarter-final matches, Borussia Dortmund, CA Peñarol, Girona FC and Valencia CF won.

An expedition of more than 5.000 people, in Gran Canaria
The LALIGA FC FUTURES 2024 International Tournament in its Christmas edition involves the travel to Gran Canaria of almost 400 people only, including players, coaches, referees, guests and specialized press. In fact, journalists from the main national sports media are on the island during these days. The number of trips reaches almost 5.000 people, including family members and fans who accompany their respective teams, many of whom extend their stay beyond the tournament to enjoy a Christmas holiday in the sun, a contrast for many of them, coming from Germany, Italy or the peninsula.
Gran Canaria has once again established itself as the chosen destination to host this international event, thanks to one of its greatest strengths: its exceptional climate. There is no better destination to host this tournament at Christmas. In December, while many places are plunged into the cold, the island offers a warm and sunny climate, ideal for enjoying outdoor sports.
Furthermore, Gran Canaria invites you to explore its extraordinary natural heritage and welcoming atmosphere, becoming the perfect setting for young football talents, their teams and families to enjoy together such special dates around a competition, where values and camaraderie prevail. This combination of factors not only enhances the experience of the tournament, but also highlights the island's commitment to sport and the unforgettable experience of its visitors.
The XXVIII LALIGA FC FUTURES International Tournament is sponsored by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through Turismo Gran Canaria and its Instituto Insular de Deportes, the City Council of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and its brand Maspalomas Costa Canaria and the Government of the Canary Islands through Promotur Turismo Canarias based on the REACT EU Fund and the collaboration of Iberia and Joma.
