Gran Canaria Natural & Active presents the official video of the Gran Canaria Walking Festival 2024

 

The Gran Canaria Natural & Active association , organizer of the Gran Canaria Walking Festival , has released the promotional video for the 13th edition of this international hiking festival, which took place from October 24th to 27th, 2024, and attracted nearly 500 participants from over 15 countries. Along four routes, participants explored the stunning landscapes of Villa de Moya, Valsequillo de Gran Canaria, La Aldea de San Nicolás, and Tejeda, discovering the island's beauty and contrasts with every step.

 

The 2024 promotional video is presented as an opportunity to relive the moments and sensations that characterized these events. In this audiovisual journey, you can perceive the connection with the extraordinary nature of Gran Canaria that hikers create during the event and the ties with its culture and heritage. For all these reasons, this annual hiking event allows you to delve, in a different way and in first person, into some of the trails that cross the various municipalities of Gran Canaria and its varied landscapes.

 

More specifically, some of the places they visited on the first day were the Doramas Rural Park, a protected natural area; the village of Fontanales in the municipality of Moya; and the Naturacanaria Rural House . Subsequent routes took them through the natural heritage of Valsequillo, including the Protected Landscape of the Cumbres, the Marteles Special Nature Reserve, and the El Troncón Recreational Area; the stunning coastline of La Aldea de San Nicolás, including the Dragon's Tail rock formation; and finally, the village of Tejeda, its caldera, and the pine forests of Llanos de la Pez and Llanos de Garañón.

 

The Gran Canaria Walking Festival is officially sponsored by the Gran Canaria Island Council through Gran Canaria Tourism. This year, the event has benefited from the valuable collaboration of the Valsequillo de Gran Canaria Town Council, the Tejeda Town Council, and the Moya Town Council, as well as the support of the La Aldea de San Nicolás Town Council.

 

In its ongoing commitment to respecting the environment and local producers, each day there was a picnic and snack lunch with the collaboration of Smurfit Westrock, La Molina Shop, Tirma, Ahembo, Isola, Gofio La Piña, Costa Caleta – Plátanos de Canarias, Mundo del Plátano de Hacienda La ReKompensa, Grupo FSM and Finca La Laja & Bodega Los Berrazales, as well as Madre Vieja Cheeses, Los Castañeros Cheeses and Colmenar La Violeta on the first route.
