The judicial authorities have placed Eustasio López at the feet of the horses this Wednesday for the 18 Lovas case. At 68 years old, the president of Lopesan has been enduring pressure since 2017, trying to avoid being prosecuted. The defense of his legal services has been chaotic and this takes its toll. Francisco López must assume the executive and institutional presidency of the group that extends across several European countries and the Caribbean. Eustasio López González was born in Villa de Agüimes on October 27, 1953 and in 2021 he was on the Forbes list of the 100 most important businessmen in Spain. He started working at 14 years old. In the summer of 1972 he established the company Hijos de Francisco López Sánchez, Lopesan, doing works for the Count of Vega Grande. 4.000 families depend on the company, which has diversified into sectors such as tourism, construction and industrial. 

In 1974 it acquired a conglomerate base with which it began to sell asphalt agglomerate. It was capitalized with projects such as the Gran Canaria airport runways, highways, Centro Comercial Faro 2 shopping centers or Bellavista in San Fernando. He entered tourism in 1991 in Fuerteventura and since 1995 he began purchasing IFA and hotels such as the Catarina or Buenaventura. Before 2000 he owned the entire IFA group with hotels in Germany, Austria and Catalonia. In 2001 Lopesan Costa Meloneras opened and in 2004 the Lopesan Villa del Conde was inaugurated. In 2009, it took over the management of ExpoMeloneras and years later the Lopesan Baobab, inspired by African architecture and setting. With 20 establishments operating in four countries (Spain, Germany, Austria and the Dominican Republic) and nearly 17.000 tourist beds, Lopesan Hotel Group is the most important tourism firm in the Canary Islands and one of the top ten in Spain in terms of turnover.

He is a member of the Canarian Confederation of Entrepreneurs, Vice President of the Association for Progress and Development (APD), Member of the Círculo de Empresarios de Gran Canaria, of the Regional Advisory Council of BBVA, and of ENDESA, and belongs to the Board of Directors of Exceltur . He is also an Honorary Member of the Welfare and Development Project. At the university level, the ULPGC awarded him the distinction of patron in 2015 for his support of the University. The Group has promoted the creation of the Lopesan Chair at the ULPGC. Eustasio López is also a trustee of the Bravo Laguna Foundation.
