In the Canary Islands, it was made the first regional law that considers prostitution as gender violence and, in that context, "the socioeconomic order" that can already distance itself when Eustasio López, president of Lopensan, is convicted without trial. The judge, in fact, considers that the defendants took advantage of the vulnerable situation of all the victims, both due to their minority and the situation of lack of family solidity and parental references. According to the order, the hotel businessman, who was referred to in the 18 Lovas agency as "the millionaire", participated in 2016 in a party organized in a chalet in the Ayagaures area, in the south of Gran Canaria, to which he also attended by the defendant Hernández León, and in which two of the minor victims consumed alcohol along with eight other young adults and bathed naked in a pool.
In companies in the tourism sector, the judicial decision to prosecute has felt like a 24 kiloton nuclear explosion. Everyone with some power in the Canary Islands wondered if that case was closed. The managers do not say it publicly but they are in solidarity with López, whom they consider the victim of an erroneous legal defense since the 2017 Lovas case broke out in 18. The company's workers are dismayed although Eustasio López was no longer in the day-to-day running of the company and he has been in charge of that so as not to damage the reputation of the Francisco López and Santiago de Armas group.
The investigating court number 2 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has issued an indictment against the six involved in the case known as 18 Lovas. Among them is the hotel businessman Eustasio López, one of the hundred greatest fortunes in Spain, according to Forbes magazine, to whom two crimes of prostitution of minors are attributed. The court imposes bail on the six defendants - Agustín Alemán Barreto alias Yino (the alleged ringleader of the plot), Eugenio Hernández de León, Antonio Dascenzo, Domingo Hernández Tarajano, Emilio Cabrera Caballero and Eustasio López González - that together total 1.263.900. euros.
In this case, a network is being investigated that allegedly recruited underage girls since 2015 and, at least, until the second half of 2016 through 18 Lovas, an agency for hostesses, go-go dancers or entertainers "with events throughout Spain", behind which a minor prostitution business was hidden, according to the indictment that was made public this Wednesday. Yino, the alleged ringleader of the plot, who increased the commission that the alleged victims received if they had sex with him, is attributed with two crimes of sexual assault, one with penetration and another with violence, nine of inciting the prostitution of minors, 14 of prostitution of minors and two of degrading treatment.
The order charges Eugenio Hernández de León with 15 crimes of prostitution of minors, two of them continued and one of incitement; Emilio Cabrera Caballero, seven crimes of prostitution of minors; Domingo Hernández Tarajano, four crimes of prostitution of minors; Eustasio López González, two crimes of prostitution of minors; and Antonio Dascenzo, a crime of prostitution of a minor. According to the order, the hotel businessman, whom the 18 Lovas agency referred to as "the millionaire", participated in 2016 at a party organized by Yino Alemán in a chalet in the Ayagaures area, in the south of Gran Canaria, which the defendant Hernández León also attended, and in which two of the minor victims consumed alcohol along with eight other young adults and bathed naked in a pool.
The judge reports that after touching and kissing the girls in the pool, both López and Hernández chose the two with whom they wanted to have relations, "with full knowledge that they were minors or, at least, with total indifference to the possibility that it was." The 10 girls were initially offered 50 euros each, although the amount was renegotiated at the party venue and increased to 100 euros, with an extra if they had sex. According to the magistrate, the ringleader of the plot recruited young women of no more than 23 years of age to whom he offered work as go-go dancers and entertainers, and made sure to obtain naked photographs of them so that he could coerce them in case they suggested disagreements. In addition, he would pick them up and take them to provide his services, although before that he would take them to an empty house, where the girls would change and drink alcohol to cheer themselves up and, from there, they would be taken to the meeting point with the client. In that house, the leader maintained relations with those who wanted to increase his commission.
