The Midis Group, the Lebanese owner of the historic firm K-tuin, which acquired Banana Computer, Apple Premium Reseller in the Canary Islands, in 2023, is considering opening a store in the south of Gran Canaria as a first step to meet the demand of Apple customers in tourist areas.
Banana Computer currently has four Apple stores in the Canary Islands: two in Las Palmas and two in Tenerife (one in Santa Cruz and one in La Laguna). The expansion to the south of the island is a response to the need to counteract the decline in spending in the island market, according to financial sources consulted by Maspalomas24H. "Las Palmas has always done very well due to public officials, but more and more tourists are coming due to technical problems or because they want to buy certain items with special taxes," said a source in the sector.
K-tuin has 33 stores distributed throughout mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands and Andorra, consolidating the Midis Group as a leader in the distribution of Apple products in the Spanish market, where competitors such as El Corte Inglés, Media Markt and Worten also operate. Following the acquisition by the Lebanese group Midi, Banana Computer maintains its brand and operational independence, assuring customers in the south of the island that there will be no significant differences arising from the incorporation of new advantages and services derived from the integration into the new group.
Headquartered in Beirut, Lebanon, the Midis Group employs more than 5,000 people in EMEA, operating up to 170 companies in 70 countries. K-tuin, as an Apple Premium Reseller (APR), is dedicated exclusively to the sale of Apple products and authorized accessories, being the undisputed leader in Spain with 16 stores in several communities, mainly in Madrid and the north of Spain.
