Fitur 2025: Servatur's new agenda in the south of Gran Canaria

Maspalomas24h-FITUR 2025 Monday, January 13, 2025

The Nordic-based tourism chain Servatur Hotels & Resorts has experienced significant growth and expansion in Gran Canaria. The company has recently added seven new resorts, five of them located in the popular resort of Puerto Rico. With this addition, Servatur manages a total of 22 hotels in the Canary Islands under its own brand, totalling more than 4.000 rooms. In addition, it sells another 1.000 rooms in nine additional resorts, reaching a total of 5.000 rooms in 31 resorts.

Servatur will be present at Fitur 2025, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, with a company sales team to present its new developments for this year. The Canarian hotel chain will take advantage of this important event to celebrate its history and present its new projects after almost half a century of existence. Its improvement has accelerated in the last decade thanks to the incorporation of the Norwegian businessman Kai Mikaelsen, current CEO and owner of several complexes managed by the firm. The company maintains its focus on the south of Gran Canaria, where it has taken on the management of new complexes in Puerto Rico, such as Altamar, Altamadores, Edén, and Buganvillas, all part of the Altamar Group. These establishments, located on the slopes surrounding the beaches, comprise a total of 465 apartments managed under a model that combines hotel and tourist services.

Among the outstanding complexes are Altamar, with 257 apartments; Altamadores: a complex with 90 apartments; and Edén and Buganvillas, two connected properties. The integration of these complexes into a larger hotel structure with a solid commercial network has allowed them to increase their profitability, according to the Nordic company. In addition, in Puerto Rico, Servatur has taken over the management of the Hotel Riosol, a 240-room, three-star complex, which will be renovated in the coming years, as well as the recently modernised Hotel Puerto Azul.

In Playa del Inglés, Servatur has begun to manage the Hotel Playa Bonita, a 260-room, four-star hotel located next to the Hotel Monte Feliz in the port. These new projects are part of Servatur's strategy of investing in the local market and expanding through rentals and acquisitions. Although there are no immediate purchase projects, the company maintains its local essence despite having international investors.

Servatur's strategy remains clear: to expand through rentals and acquisitions. Despite having international investors, Servatur maintains its local essence and its commitment to the economic and social development of the region. Servatur's catalogue includes iconic establishments such as Don Miguel and Waikiki in Playa del Inglés, Green Beach and Parque de Arguineguín in Arguineguín, and Hartaguna and Casablanca Suites & Spa in Puerto Rico. With a solid expansion strategy and a focus on modernisation, the company is positioned as a benchmark in Canarian tourism, with an eye on taking advantage of the region's potential and maintaining its commitment to economic and social development.
