A man has died after a vehicle overturned on its side at kilometre 28 of the GC-1 highway, in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana. The incident occurred at 13:02 hours.
The Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert informing them of the accident and immediately activated the necessary emergency resources. Among the services mobilised were a sanitized ambulance and a medicalised ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), as well as personnel from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium and the Civil Guard.
Upon arrival of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium firefighters, it was confirmed that the occupant of the vehicle was in cardiorespiratory arrest. The firefighters began resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of the SUC medical staff, who performed advanced resuscitation maneuvers. However, despite their efforts, the death of the affected person was confirmed at the scene.
The Civil Guard was responsible for conducting investigations and regulating traffic in the area during the intervention of the emergency services.
The causes of the accident are being investigated by the competent authorities. This tragic event has shocked the local community, marking a sad day for the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana.
