The City Council hires 55 unemployed people with different professional categories who will work for 8 months on the environmental improvement of gardens and public facilities in the municipality

The Department of Local Development, headed by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, has launched the employment and training project 'Acércate al empleo' (Get closer to employment), aimed at hiring 55 unemployed people from the municipality with different professional categories.

The project, aimed at reintegration and the development of public utility tasks, is subsidized by the Canary Islands Employment Service in its Social Employment program for the period 2024-2025 with funding of 823.364 euros.

The beneficiaries of this new training and employment proposal from the City Council to reduce unemployment will provide support over the next eight months to the environmental improvement plan for municipal gardens and public facilities developed by the Municipal Services departments led by Councillor Araceli Armas Cruz.

In parallel to this work performance for the improvement of public spaces in all the town centres, the new workers with categories of plumber, welder, painter, driver, bricklayer, electrician, locksmith, gardener, porter, construction labourer and also cleaning and gardening, will actively participate in a complementary training plan with the help of two social educators.

This training plan is geared towards gender equality, social skills, occupational risk prevention, computer literacy and career guidance.
