A swimmer was rescued from the sea with signs of drowning on Costa Alegre beach, Mogán. After being stabilised by the SUC, he was evacuated by helicopter in critical condition to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria.

A 71-year-old man was rescued from the sea with signs of drowning on Costa Alegre beach, in the municipality of Mogán. The incident mobilised a large emergency team, including a medicalised helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) for his transfer to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria.

The Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 received the alert at 12:58, reporting that a swimmer had been taken out of the water and required urgent medical attention. The necessary resources were immediately activated to guarantee his assistance and transfer.

The SUC stabilised the victim in the first instance and transferred him by ambulance to the port of Arguineguín. From there, he was evacuated by medical helicopter to the helipad of the Insular Maternal and Child University Hospital Complex, for admission to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria, where he was admitted in critical condition.

The operation also involved personnel from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, Civil Protection of Mogán, Local Police and Civil Guard. The collaboration between the services was essential to ensure the rapid evacuation and care of the patient.
