The International Ecoislands Forum will return to Infecar on 30 and 31 January to present proposals aimed at achieving a greener, more profitable, more self-sufficient and environmentally more sustainable socioeconomic model.

With the help of international, national and local experts, and with a focus on island regions, the event seeks to be a catalyst for the implementation of effective climate policies and the exchange of innovative ideas that contribute to sustainability. Designed for both professionals and the general public, it is also positioned as a key meeting point to explore the potential of green jobs as a solution to unemployment and to promote a more environmentally-friendly economic model.

The main goals of the second edition of this dialogue space include the creation of synergies between public, private and scientific institutions, access to specialized content and the analysis of strategies aimed at mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change. In addition, experiences and practices that have proven successful in this area will be shared.

Companies wishing to promote their brand, attract investors or close commercial alliances can now apply to participate as exhibitors by completing the participation form published on the website. www.foro-ecoislas.es

Plenary conferences and workshops

The forum will feature the outstanding participation of Gunter Pauli, creator of the concept of the Blue Economy, who will open the programme on 30 January with a presentation on the potential of this model as a driver of sustainable opportunities. Later that day, Anjila Hjalsted, a renowned specialist in absolute sustainability and speaker at TEDx, will address the keys to achieving full sustainability, offering an inspiring and practical vision of this global challenge.

On January 31, Liz Bonnin, wildlife biologist and well-known presenter of natural history and environmental programs, will kick off the day with a talk entitled The change our planet needsHis speech promises to be a call to action, focusing on the importance of preserving biodiversity and taking action to address the climate crisis.

Over the two days, parallel sessions will take place that will simultaneously address key issues to address the challenges of sustainability and climate change. In the area of energy, water and mobility, strategies will be analysed to achieve water efficiency, the reuse of resources, the decarbonisation of island electricity networks and progress towards net zero emissions models. On the other hand, the circular and blue economy will highlight opportunities in the valorisation of desalination brines, the challenges in waste management and the possibilities of sustainable tourism within the framework of the blue economy.

Sessions dedicated to biodiversity and climate change adaptation will focus on the protection of island ecosystems, visitor management in protected areas and the restoration of coastal habitats. In addition, European research projects and innovative solutions, such as carbon markets and green infrastructure, will be presented to mitigate the effects of extreme climate events and foster sustainable adaptation to global challenges.

Among the parallel sessions, two workshops stand out: one on the global challenges of the islands in the blue economy and another called Navigating the future, led by Maritime Sisters Sylvia and Marjolein Boer, experts in accelerating the transition towards a sustainable maritime future.

B2B meetings

In addition to the plenary conferences and parallel sessions, the Forum offers the possibility of scheduling B2B meetings between the exhibitors themselves or between visitors and registered companies.
