Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez and the Councilor for Agriculture and Livestock offer recognition to the agri-food companies of the municipality awarded during 2024

Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez Sánchez and the Councillor for Agriculture and Livestock, Araceli Armas Cruz, have held a meeting with the municipality's agri-food producers who were awarded during 2024 at international, regional and island level for the extraordinary quality of their products.

The meeting was relaxed and friendly, and the mayor and the eighth deputy mayor congratulated the producers of the Las Tirajanas Winery and the managers of the Amurga-La Cazuela, La Gloria and El Draguillo cheese factories for the great acceptance of their products and the valuable recognition of the wines and cheeses that they have presented with great success in the different competitions they attended in 2024.

Marco Aurelio Pérez highly valued and was extremely satisfied with the level of maturity and excellence that most of the municipality's agri-food products are achieving and consolidating with great effort. In this regard, he thanked the representatives of the award-winning companies for "the commitment and professional perseverance that they are demonstrating day after day and year after year to defend the quality of their products and the relevance of their respective brands at a local, regional and international level, contributing with their work to the promotion of San Bartolomé de Tirajana."

Awards

In the case of Bodega Las Tirajanas, it won the gold medal for its wine 'Las Tirajanas Dulce' at the World Extreme Wine Competition held in September in the Aosta Valley, Italy, in the most important world oenological competition reserved for wines from mountain regions. In addition, the same wine was also awarded the bronze medal in the semi-dry, semi-sweet, sweet and liqueur categories at the 28th Gran Canaria Island Wine Tasting held last July.

The Amurga-La Cazuela Cheese Factory, championed by Antonio Alejandro Suárez Perdomo, stood out in 2024 with three important awards, the most prestigious being the super gold medal won by its 'Amurga semi-cured sheep and goat' cheese in the mixed cheese category at the international World Cheese Awards competition held in mid-November in Viseu, Portugal. In addition, its 'La Cazuela semi-cured' cheese was also awarded the gold medal in the semi-cured raw goat's milk category at the Canary Islands Government's Official Agrocanarias Cheese Competition, held in mid-June in Fuerteventura. That same cheese won second prize at the last Official Gran Canaria Cheese Competition promoted by the Island Council.

In the same competition of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the Quesería El Draguillo, from the Ganadería Acodeli SL, was also awarded second prize, specifically in the category of soft cheeses made with raw milk.

Quesería La Gloria, which also has a long list of recognitions and awards throughout its history, was awarded last September with the gold medal in the raw goat's milk category at the 2024 Cincho Awards, an international competition that was held in September in Carrión de los Condes (Palencia) organized by the Junta de Castilla y León.
