Yilenia Vega: “This is the most crowded event of the Maspalomas Carnival, as it brings together more than 300 thousand people”
Alejandro Marichal: “Congratulations to the council for demanding better quality in the design of floats and the charging of a fee”
The Department of Celebrations and Events of the Illustrious City Council of the Villa de San Bartolomé de Tirajana, led by Councilor Yilenia Vega, has announced the opening of the registration period to participate in the emblematic Parade of the Maspalomas International Carnival 2025 starting on Monday, January 27. This event, which is one of the most anticipated events of the carnival, will be held next Saturday, March 29.
The aim of the published regulatory bases is to guarantee the organisation, security and compliance with the necessary requirements for the correct development of the parade. Registrations will be open from Monday 27 January to Wednesday 5 February 2025, and the procedure must be carried out exclusively by registering online through the platform enabled for this purpose, GESTICAB (www.gesticab.es).
To participate, floats must present a carnival-themed design, as well as the required documentation, which includes the design sketch, the vehicle's technical certificates and a safety and self-protection report, in addition to a fee of 145 euros per float. The collection of this fee per float will provide a source of income for the Festivities and Events department, thus contributing to its financing.
Once the deadline has passed, the proposals will be validated, in terms of security by the Local Police and in terms of design and creativity by the Department of Celebrations and Events itself, guaranteeing compliance with all the requirements established in the bases.
The City Council reminds that the presentation of the application does not guarantee participation, since the number of places is limited to 100 floats, as required by the municipal Security area. In the event that the registrations exceed the available capacity, a draw will be held to determine the selected floats.
Councillor Yilenia Vega highlighted the importance of this event in promoting tourism in our municipality, pointing out that “this is the most crowded event of the Maspalomas Carnival, as it brings together more than 300 thousand people”. For his part, the first deputy mayor, Alejandro Marichal, wanted to “congratulate the council for demanding a higher quality in the design of the floats and the charging of a fee”.
