The re-elected general secretary of PSOE Canarias, Ángel Víctor Torres, has not forgotten the south of Gran Canaria and has placed Carlos Álamo, the Councillor for Tourism of Gran Canaria and leader of the PSOE in the south of the island, where he cohabits with Concepción Narváez and Gustavo Santana, as a member of the socialist leadership after the 15th regional congress. This means that the south of Gran Canaria increases its share of power in a strategic area such as tourism, an area of power that remains under the umbrella of Álamo.
In the new management, which includes the Councillor for Tourism of Gran Canaria, which is equal and made up of 54 people representing the entire territorial and local structure of the party in the archipelago, the following will continue: the Secretary of Organisation, Nira Fierro, and the Vice-Secretaries Elena Máñez and Rosa Bella Cabrera, as well as the President José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga and the Deputy Secretary of Organisation, Manuel Fumero. Among the new additions are Roberto García in the Strategic Coordination Secretariat; Augusto Hidalgo, as Secretary of Insular Coordination, and Anselmo Pestana, in charge of the Territorial Coordination area.
Torres, who is beginning his third term at the head of the party, which he has led since 2017, has headed the only candidacy that has been presented to the regional executive in this twenty-fifth congress of the PSOE Canarias, so there was no possibility of votes against for the 227 accredited delegates. 225 delegates voted, of which 175 were in favor and 49 blank, in addition to one null vote. The notable novelty in the top of the Canarian socialist executive is the incorporation of Roberto García Guillén, advisor in the minister's cabinet, as secretary of strategic coordination.
