Newsroom Friday, December 03, 2021

Los Gofiones, Germán López, Benito Cabrera, Domingo Rodríguez 'El Colorao or Pedrito Camacho y el Clan are part of the cast of the Christmas programming

The Department of Culture and Historical Heritage of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, directed by Elena Espino, has launched the cultural programming for the month of December with multiple activities aimed at all audiences.

The program contains five exhibitions; one from the FEDAC, another from the bibliographic and documentary heritage of the municipalities in the south of the island, organized by the CUPACAN Association; another called “Colored Cliffs”, by the artist José L. Melián Santana; an exhibition of nativity scenes by Teresa Santana Rodríguez and the Nacho Maya nativity scene, which over the years has become a fundamental part of the cultural Christmas programming.

Regarding the shows aimed at children, the highlights are “Pinocchio and his Geppetto”, “Huckleberry Finn”, “One and a Half” or “The goblins who saved the Camino de Santiago de Tunte”, which will visit different neighborhoods of the municipality. In addition, boys and girls will be able to participate in two Christmas watercolor workshops or Christmas activities prepared by the Cultura a Muerte Cultural Association in Tunte, Fataga, Castillo del Romeral and San Fernando.

The gastrocultural meeting “Sal de Tapas” will energize the exterior of the Maspalomas Cultural Center this Saturday, December 4, with a tribute to Rocío Jurado played by Taryn Álamo and the participation of 12 hospitality entrepreneurs from Castillo del Romeral who will surprise attendees with their preparations.

The Maspalomas Encantada Choir and the San Bartolomé Polyphonic Choir (Lanzarote) will offer a meeting called “Between the Islands” at the El Salvador Ecumenical Temple. In addition, the Maspalomas Choir will also offer two concerts; one in Cercados de Espino and another in the San Fernando Parish Center.

Directly from Cuba, the musical group Pedrito Camacho y el Clan arrives at the Maspalomas Cultural Center, with its show “Life changed.” This musical group has a history of 20 years with the premise of cultivating Cuban popular music from the prism of the contemporary.

The municipal music and theater schools have also wanted to participate in the Christmas programming with the informal meeting called “We are returning home…”, which will be held at Casa Saturninita.

Benito Cabrera, Domingo Rodríguez 'El Colorao', Germán López, Yone Rodríguez and Althay Páez will be the stars of the “Timples@2021” show, which will be held on December 10 at Expomeloneras.

This year the Department of Culture repeats the “Christmas nativity scenes or corners contest” after the success of the last edition. From December 15 to 17, those who wish to participate can send their videos to ppgad@pucrs.br (consult the contest rules).

The Umiaya Folklore Group will offer the show “Christmas and Tradition” at the Maspalomas Cultural Center, where the timplista Germán López will also offer the “Canela y Limón” concert.

For its part, the El Tablero Cultural Center will offer a “Solidarity Christmas Meeting” with the students of the Popular University of the South, the La Cucaña Group and the Maspalomas Encantada Choir.

In addition, the Maspalomas Cultural Center will host the Christmas festival of the Maspalomas Ballet Dance Studio and the Christmas solidarity gala called “África”, by the Maspalomas Sol y Arena Band.

The department's animation service carries out, once again, a nativity scene route. With a cost of 5 euros you will visit the nativity scenes of Casa Saturninita, Arucas and Gáldar.

Among the charity events, the VII Solidarity Lyric Gala of the soprano Judith Pezoa stands out, who together with the tenor Francisco Corujo and the pianist Juan Francisco Parra will offer a show at the Maspalomas Cultural Center.

On this occasion, the New Year's Eve concert will be performed by Los Gofiones. It will be held on December 30 at the Explanada del Faro de Maspalomas.

Due to the good reception they had last year, Their Majesties The Three Wise Men of the East wanted to repeat the experience and will once again make video calls with the boys and girls on December 28, 29 and 30.

All free activities participate in the “A little bit of you is a lot” Campaign organized by the Department of Social Services. To do this, people who wish to purchase their ticket must come on the day of the event with a contribution of food or personal hygiene products.
