Emergency services rescued a seriously injured woman after she fell into a rocky area in Playa del Cura. The victim suffered serious injuries and was evacuated to hospital by medical helicopter.

A 68-year-old woman has been seriously injured after falling on a rocky area in Playa del Cura, in the municipality of Mogán. The victim suffered severe head trauma and serious trauma to her lower limb. She was treated on site by emergency services and transferred in critical condition by a medical helicopter to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria.

The incident occurred at 10:05 a.m., when the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting that a person had fallen in a rocky area, was unconscious and needed urgent assistance.

Given the seriousness of the call, 1-1-2 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources. Professionals from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) assisted the victim, who had extremely serious injuries. At the time of assistance, the woman was in cardiorespiratory arrest, so the medical staff began advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, managing to recover her pulse.

After stabilizing her, she was transferred in a medical helicopter from the SUC, which landed in a nearby area before taking her to the helipad of the reference hospital on the island.

Members of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium were in charge of rescuing the victim from the rocky area, also ensuring the landing and takeoff of the aircraft in the designated area. Meanwhile, local police officers and members of Civil Protection of Mogán collaborated in the operation deployed to deal with the emergency.

The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) took part in the operation, mobilising a medicalised helicopter, a medicalised ambulance and a basic life support ambulance. The Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, the Local Police and Civil Protection also took part.
