The Island Caravan Federation points out that in Gran Canaria it is necessary to meet the demand of 10.000 motorhomes. The beaches of the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana that are set up for camping are full during periods such as the Easter holidays. In total there are 450 places for caravans and motorhomes, a capacity that is already covered and that is distributed between Tarajalillo (50), Carpinteras (145), Triana (90) and Los Llanos de los Militares (165).
The Director General of Tourism Planning, Training and Promotion, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, presented this Tuesday to the Canary Islands Tourism Council, where there is a presence of unions and businessmen, the draft of the regulation that will regulate the establishments of open-air tourist accommodation, whose first draft includes several modalities such as campsites, motorhome areas and unique accommodation establishments, such as tree houses or 'tipis', which will have to be regulated by the town councils in the urban planning.
He added that categories for campsites and hostels will be established and specified that "the Canary Islands are the only autonomous community in Spain that has not yet regulated this matter." Rodríguez explained that, with a flexible points system, it will depend on the entrepreneur to achieve luxury, with 200 points and will be scored for having climatic shelters such as shade, ventilation or humidity. "We intend to make a XNUMXst century regulation that will be ready in approximately one month," he said.
