The Maspalomas Dunes, in the south of Gran Canaria, have been recognised for their ecological uniqueness and their role in the conservation of coastal biodiversity. However, in recent years, the expansion of Neurada procumbens, a plant of North African and Asian origin, has been identified, which has begun to colonise this area.
