BASES FOR THE ELECTION OF QUEENS AND BASES FOR EATS AND BEACH BARS
The expected Maspalomas International Carnival 2025 has already given the starting signal with the official publication of the bases for the election of the Adult Queen and Children's Queen of the pageant. The gala to elect the Adult Queen will be held on March 22, 2025, while the gala to elect the Children's Throne will take place on March 21. The winners will receive the titles of Queen and Ladies of Honor, respectively, as well as the opportunity to represent the Carnival at various events throughout the year.
Among the requirements for the election of the Carnival Queen it is indicated that lCandidates for the adult gala must be between 16 and 54 years old and submit their registration before March 7, 2025. Likewise, the aspirants to the child throne must be between 6 and 12 years old before the event. For both categories, registration must be made through the official emails indicated in the rules. The registration forms, along with the required documentation, must be sent before March 7, 2025. The rules also stipulate that each candidate must present an original design and an explanatory report on the materials used. This year, it indicates Vega, from the council "a project has been carried out is firmly committed to encouraging the participation of companies interested in sponsoring costumes, with the aim of increasing quality and encouraging creativity in costumes.”
The prizes at the Adult Queen gala will be 3.000 euros for the winner, 1.500 euros for the First Lady of Honour and 1.000 euros for the Second Lady of Honour. In the case of the Child Queen, the winner will receive a prize of 600 euros, while the Second and Third Placed will receive 400 and 200 euros, respectively.
The Councillor for Tourism, Celebrations and Events of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council, Yilenia Vega, recalls that “the number has been reduced to a maximum of 10 candidates in each category. If the number of applications exceeds this number, a prior selection will be made by a specialised jury”.
The Maspalomas International Carnival 2025 will be held from March 18 to 30, under the theme 'Love in Mexico', so it is shaping up to be one of the editions that will feature a stage full of creativity and color where the election of the Queens will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the celebration.
Bases for Beach Bars and Inns
The Department of Festivities and Events has also published the terms and conditions for the allocation of beach bars, social bars, taverns and food trucks. These indicate that the spaces for beach bars, taverns and food trucks will be located in the car park next to the Yumbo Shopping Centre and will be allocated through a selection process based on criteria such as previous experience, the use of sustainable materials and/or the exclusive sale of products from official sponsors of the Carnival.
Applications can be submitted between 10 and 19 February 2025. Rates vary depending on the type of facility: standard beach bars will cost €2.000, social beach bars €1.000, food trucks without a terrace €700 and food trucks with a terrace €1.000. Taverns will cost between €1.000 and €1.300, depending on size, with a surcharge of €50 for each additional metre over six metres.
The successful bidders must strictly comply with health and safety regulations, ensuring the use of returnable cups and biodegradable containers. Failure to comply with these conditions may result in the withdrawal of the operating license.
