A 29-year-old man was seriously injured this Saturday after a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the GC-200, between Veneguera and Tasartico, in the municipality of Mogán. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was assisted on site by personnel from a medical helicopter from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), who later transferred him to the helipad of the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria, where he was admitted to the Emergency Department. A 26-year-old woman, who was also injured in the accident with moderate trauma, was treated by medical personnel and evacuated in a basic life support ambulance from the SUC to San Roque Maspalomas University Hospitals.
The Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received the alert at 17:49, reporting the accident and the need for medical assistance for the two affected. Given the seriousness of the accident and its location, 1-1-2 immediately activated the emergency resources necessary for the intervention.
SUC medical helicopter personnel stabilised the injured man on site before his air evacuation. At the same time, a SUC medical ambulance assessed the injured woman, who was taken by basic life support ambulance to the health centre. Firefighters secured the damaged vehicles, while the Local Police and Civil Protection collaborated with the emergency teams. The Civil Guard was in charge of regulating traffic and opening the corresponding proceedings.
The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) participated in this operation, mobilizing a medical helicopter, a medical ambulance and a basic life support ambulance; the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium; Civil Protection; the Local Police and the Civil Guard.
