Everything seized did not meet the requirements of the General Directorate of Public Health
The Fiscal and Border Patrol of the Civil Guard of Santa María de Guía, in collaboration with the Fiscal and Border Patrol of the Neighborhood, within the framework of actions aimed at the fight to prevent and pursue smuggling, fraud and other illegal activities, carried out a police operation this February in a wholesale store in the port area of the town of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which sold vapers and electronic cigarettes without complying with the manufacturing, presentation and marketing requirements, seriously endangering the health of all consumers.
The Civil Guard, in its continuous search for criminal offenses and violations in health matters, and in this case through the analysis of the tobacco market and its related products, found worrying evidence that both in the south of the island, especially in tourist areas, and in the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, there was an increase in the marketing and sale of this type of products without the required authorization and without meeting the requirements that the Ministry of Health, through the General Directorate of Public Health, establishes in terms of manufacturing, labeling and distribution, altering the sales channels for safe consumption.

The Civil Guard seized more than 8.000 vapers and electronic cigarettes at the wholesale establishment, which violated current legislation in various ways: information legends in a foreign language, non-compliance with health regulations established by law, relabeling plates and a significant excess of the permitted milligrams of nicotine.
The Civil Guard stresses that this type of illegally-sourced articles introduced into Spain through unauthorized channels pose a serious risk to the health of the population.
For all these reasons, the events described were reported to the General Directorate of Public Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.
Tips
Users who wish to purchase one of these products must bear in mind that all of these types of articles must be in Spanish, they must indicate a maximum nicotine content of 2% mg, a maximum number of inhalations of approximately 700 puffs, an information leaflet inside each article and the legend on the product must read: 'This product contains nicotine, a highly addictive substance. Its consumption is not recommended for non-smokers'. Be wary of the product if it does not have one of these indications. Anything that does not match these types of indications should not be consumed due to the serious consequences it could have.
