A driver dies after leaving the road on the GC-1 near Santa Lucía de Tirajana

A man died after the car he was driving went off the road on the GC-1, in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana. The emergency services tried to revive him, but were unable to reverse the situation.

 

A man died this Wednesday after going off the road on the GC-1, at kilometer point 27, heading north, within the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana. The accident occurred at 15:57 p.m. and mobilized multiple emergency resources.

 

The Canary Islands Government's 1-1-2 Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert informing them that a taxi had left the road and its driver was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Witnesses to the accident began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until the arrival of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC). Upon arrival, the medical staff continued with medical assistance and proceeded to transfer the victim in a medicalized ambulance to the El Doctoral health centre, where his death was finally confirmed.

 

The SUC sent a medical ambulance and a basic life support ambulance, while a doctor and a nurse from the El Doctoral health centre collaborated in the assistance. Firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium secured the crashed vehicle, while the Civil Guard guarded the body until the arrival of the judicial authorities. In addition, agents from the Local Police and the General Corps of the Canarian Police provided support in the management of the incident.
