The procession will leave at 20:30 p.m. from the parking lot of the Municipal Swimming Pool and will head to Plaza del Rosario, the epicenter of carnival activities.

Agüimes will celebrate this Saturday, February 22, starting at 20:30 p.m., the Inaugural Parade of the Carnival, dedicated this year to the world of video games. The route will begin in the parking lot of the Municipal Swimming Pool and will end near the Plaza del Rosario, the epicentre of carnival activities once again this year.
The inaugural procession will include twelve floats from the carnival groups and murgas, which will parade alongside the Makana and Caribe batucadas, the Aragüimé comparsa and other local groups. As they pass by the Town Hall building, the symbolic Burning of the Spirit of the Lizard will take place, just after the mayor of Agüimes, Óscar Hernández, gives his welcome speech to Don Carnal.
As a prelude to the Inaugural Parade, on Saturday morning, starting at 12:00, the Announcer Parade will take place in the Plaza del Rosario, which will end with the Burning of the Shearing in the portico of the parish of San Sebastián. At night, after the parade, the party will continue with the first street party of the programme, starring Furia Joven, Grupo Arena and Línea Dj. During the early hours of the morning, hot bread with oil and garlic will be distributed, following the old tradition of the all-night dances in Agüimes, when after a whole night of partying this simple restorative was offered to the neighbourhood.
Transport and security
To facilitate public transport, the Global company will reinforce bus lines 11 and 22 on Saturday, which connect Agüimes with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Arinaga. The timetables can be consulted on the website, aguimes.es/mobilityThere will also be special taxi services. The stops will be located on Doctor Joaquín Artiles Street, in front of City Hall, and at the intersection between Honduras Street and Hermanos La Salle Avenue.
In addition, a special security operation will be launched in which fifty members of the Local Police, the Canary Police, the Civil Guard, the Traffic Guard and Civil Protection will participate.
