A Global bus operating on route 91 caught fire yesterday afternoon at the exit from Arguineguín, prompting rapid mobilization of emergency services.
At around 21:00 p.m., the driver noticed the presence of smoke in the vehicle and reacted quickly, evacuating the approximately 30 passengers on board. In a gesture of great determination, he decided to continue driving to move the bus away from nearby homes, minimizing the risk to residents. Moments later, the flames intensified at the rear of the vehicle and spread to a group of nearby eucalyptus trees.
The cause of the accident is being investigated and local police have regulated traffic in the area to ensure safety.
Members of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, together with agents from the Mogán Local Police and Civil Protection, went to the scene to put out the fire and coordinate traffic on the affected road.
