The Economic Forum organised by the Fuerteventura Chamber of Commerce will have as its guest for its second installment Ángel Víctor Torres, Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory. This initiative, which is sponsored by Grupo Newport, Lopesan Hotel Group, Hotel El Mirador de Fuerteventura and Fuerteventura Televisión, will hold this new meeting next Monday, March 3, starting at 10.00:XNUMX am, at the Hotel Mirador in Puerto del Rosario. During his speech, Torres will analyse current issues and the relations between the State and the Canary Islands and the agreements established between the two administrations. During the event, which will have two moderators, a dialogue will be held with the minister from Gran Canaria, who will address different issues of interest to the economy of the islands.
Ángel Víctor Torres Pérez (Arucas, 1966), a Spanish teacher and politician, is currently Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory since 2023, as well as Secretary General of the Socialist Party of the Canary Islands since 2017. Between 2019 and 2023 he was President of the Government of the Canary Islands. He was Mayor of Arucas in two stages (from 2003 to 2007 and between 2011 and 2015); and also Vice President of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and Councilor for Public Works, Infrastructure and Sports (2015-2019), as well as National Deputy.
A graduate in Hispanic Philology from the University of La Laguna, where he obtained his doctorate in 1991, he worked as a teacher in various high schools in Gran Canaria until 2000. He has published several books and has stood out in literary competitions. He began his political career in 1999 when he was elected councillor of the Arucas Town Council.
