In the current 2025 ranking of the prestigious Newsweek magazine, three Canarian hospitals appear, two in Gran Canaria and one in Tenerife, with HUSR being the only private hospital in the Canary Islands to appear in the “World's Best Hospitals -2025 -Spain”, occupying the first overall position in the Islands.
For the sixth consecutive year, San Roque University Hospitals has been included in the “Top 50” of the best Spanish hospitals according to the magazine’s ranking, appearing in 45th place.
This ranking is a general classification of hospitals, based on the ratings obtained from the recommendations of healthcare professionals, different results of surveys on patient experience and key indicators of care quality. More information about the ranking in this link.
The World's Best Hospitals 2025 ranking includes the best hospitals from 30 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Countries were selected based on multiple comparability factors, including standard of living/life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals, and data availability. For the third time, hospitals were surveyed on their PROM implementation status. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) are defined as standardized and validated questionnaires completed by patients to measure their perception of functional well-being and quality of life. With guidance from the global board of medical experts, Newsweek and Statista have updated the PROMs Implementation Survey for the 2025 rating cycle. The survey was sent to hospitals in fall/winter 2024 and was also available on newsweek.com and r.statista.com. In addition, the board of medical experts supports the continued development of the overall methodology. The lists are based on four data sources: online survey, patient satisfaction, hospital quality metrics, and PROMs Implementation Survey.
