A tourist was found dead on a path in Mogán yesterday afternoon. The body, in an advanced state of decomposition, was rescued this morning by emergency personnel with air support. The Civil Guard has begun an investigation to clarify what happened.
Late yesterday afternoon, Sunday 2nd March, emergency services were alerted after the discovery of the lifeless body of a tourist on a trail in Mogán. The body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition, was located by hikers who were passing through the area and notified the authorities.
Due to the complexity of the terrain, the rescue was carried out on the morning of today, Monday 3 March, at around 10:30 am. Members of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, based in Puerto Rico, intervened in the recovery of the body, with the support of a helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) based at the Aeroclub of Gran Canaria.
The Judicial Police of the Civil Guard has taken charge of the proceedings, in coordination with the Court on Duty of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, to clarify the circumstances of the death and proceed to the identification of the deceased.
The operation involved personnel from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium based in Puerto Rico, a helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) based at the Aeroclub of Gran Canaria and agents from the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard, in coordination with the Court on Duty of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
