TUI Group held the TUI Global Hotel Awards gala yesterday in Berlin, where it announced its prestigious list of the 100 best hotels of 2025
Carmen Riu received an award in recognition of her career
The Riu Palace Maspalomas and the Riu Gran Canaria have made their way into the prestigious list of the 100 best hotels of 2025 published by the TUI Group ; an accolade that celebrates excellence in hospitality and highlights establishments with the highest customer satisfaction scores.
To compile this ranking, the company evaluated 14.000 hotels in 11 countries and 33 destinations worldwide, selecting only 100, with the ratings of the more than 20 million customers of the tourism group who highlight these hotels as the best in terms of hospitality.
Spain is represented by 25 hotels at the TUI Global Hotel Awards , including destinations on the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands. Among the award winners are the Riu Palace Maspalomas and the Riu Gran Canaria , both part of the RIU Hotels chain , recognized for their commitment to quality and guest experience. The latter also received the award for Best Large Hotel.
TUI Group , during the TUI Global Hotel Awards 2025 held yesterday in Berlin, also recognized the career of Carmen Riu , whom CEO Sebastian Ebel praised as "a pioneering figure in the tourism industry and a key player in its transformation over the last few decades." Carmen Riu accepted the TUI Lifetime Achievement Award at a moving ceremony, accompanied by her husband, Pep Tortella, and her son, Joan Trian Riu , a member of RIU's board of directors.
