The Department of Culture of San Bartolomé de Tirajana begins the journey of traditional masked dances, with hot chocolate, typical tortillas and piñatas included, in all the neighborhoods and towns of the municipality
The programme prepared by the Councillor, headed by the second deputy mayor, Elena Álamo Vega, and coordinated by the councillor Esther Delgado Sánchez, promotes this popular carnival activity “as a meeting with the traditions and the most authentic festive spirit of the Islands”. For this reason, during the development of these carnival evenings there is no shortage of the participation of local musical groups and parties from the municipality to liven up the dances, nor the typical tortillas and chocolates to cushion the rigours of the nights, nor the piñatas with surprises to cheer up the participating neighbours.
“Our goal is to maintain the tradition of sharing joy and fun as the best way to create community and cultural and neighborhood identity, and at the same time, to rescue and promote this masquerade party with simple and casual costumes,” says Elena Álamo.
The calendar of 'Traditional Carnival' street parties in the villages takes place this Friday 7th at 20:00 p.m. in the El Pajar Building, in the Santa Águeda neighbourhood; the Plaza de Pepe El Barbero in El Tablero; the Intergenerational Centre of Fataga; the Plaza Tenderetunte, in the historic centre of the town, and in the Cultural Centre of Castillo del Romeral.
Then, on Thursday 13th, the venue will be the Juan Grande Intergenerational Centre at 14pm, and on Friday 20th the headquarters of the Famara Residents' Association at 00pm. The programme will close at the Cercados de Espino Cultural Centre on Friday 21st from XNUMXpm.
