According to Canarias 7, two mountaineers discovered the lifeless body of a woman floating face down in a pool in the Berriel ravine, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, on Thursday. Initial investigations by the National Police indicate that the deceased was between 40 and 45 years old, although her identity has not yet been confirmed.

The discovery took place at around 16:31 p.m., when one of the mountaineers alerted 112. He was an experienced canyoner who, while carrying out the activity with his son, descended into one of the pools in the upper part of the ravine and came across the body floating in the water.

Given the difficulty of access to the area, the National Police coordinated the rescue operation and requested the intervention of the helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES). The body was in an area of difficult access, about two hours' walk from the nearest road, which complicated the recovery efforts.

Shortly before sunset, emergency teams managed to extract the body from the ravine and take it to the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Las Palmas. An autopsy will be performed there to clarify the cause of death.
